District Attorney Hoovler Joins Fraternal Order of Police in announcing Orange County Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Service

Orange County Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 6th, 2022, at 6:00 p.m., at the entrance of the Orange County Courthouse in Goshen

Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler and Michael McGinn, President of the
Fraternal Order of Police Jason Conklin Memorial Lodge #957, announced the upcoming 2022 Orange County Law Enforcement Memorial Service. The annual event honors Orange County law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty, and whose names have been enshrined on two memorial walls outside the Orange County Courthouse in Goshen. The service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022, at 6:00 p.m., at the entrance to the Courthouse.

At the service this year, the Fraternal Order of Police will honor five members of the New York City Police Department, who were also Orange County residents, that died as a result of exposure to toxic substances during their selfless service at the World Trade Center site. The memorial service will also honor the memory of the thirty-eight officers, troopers and federal agents that are enshrined on the Orange County Law Enforcement Memorial.

“We must honor and respect the selfless service of those law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line to keep us all safe,” said District Attorney Hoovler. “These officers have our unending gratitude, as do their families and loved ones who they left behind. I will continue to support law enforcement in the performance of their noble, dangerous and difficult calling. I hope this solemn occasion will draw attention to the sacrifice that these officers have made on behalf of the public.”

“Once again, it is our solemn honor to memorialize our fallen brothers and sisters who died from their exposure to toxic substances as a result of their duty during the rescue and recovery effort at the World Trade Center in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on 9/11,” said Michael McGinn, President of the Jason Conklin Memorial Lodge #957 of Fraternal Order of Police. “These brave Orange County residents left their homes and families on that fateful day to answer the call of duty, and paid for it with their lives in the years to come. While we honor these brave officers for their selfless sacrifice, we also pay homage to their families and loved ones for their dignity, courage and perseverance in the face of such irreparable loss.”

The service will last approximately one hour and is open to all members of the law enforcement community and to the general public.
