District Attorney and ADAs to Participate at All Eight Orange County Events

County Executive Neuhaus, Sheriff DuBois, and
County Clerk Rabbitt to Make Appearances

Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, he and members of his staff will appear at the National Night Out Against Crime events being held in Orange County, as part of the District Attorney’s community prosecution initiative. District Attorney Hoovler will personally appear at each venue, in the Cities of Newburgh, Middletown, and Port Jervis; the Towns of Montgomery, New Windsor, and Wallkill; and the Villages of Greenwood Lake and Highland Falls. Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus, Sheriff Carl E. DuBois, and County Clerk Annie Rabbit are also expected to make appearances during the evening.

At each location, the District Attorney’s Office will have a table staffed by two Assistant District Attorneys, displaying literature publicizing District Attorney Hoovler’s community prosecution program and other initiatives of the District Attorney’s Office. Staff will also offer free items designed to provide the public with information that might be valuable in crime prevention. This is the fifth year that District Attorney Hoovler will appear at every National Night Out venue in the County, and the fourth year where Assistant District Attorneys will staff every venue.

“Since before I took office,” said District Attorney Hoovler, “I have made it clear that communication between the public and the District Attorney’s Office is among my top priorities. To that end, in 2014 I created the Special Projects and Community Affairs Bureau, designed to open and maintain lines of communication with Orange County’s communities. My Office’s annual participation in National Night Out is one more avenue for us to reach out to our citizens, so that, together, we can address the problems that lead to crime in our communities, and can work together to solve those crimes that do occur.”
