Allowing Orange County Police Officers to Directly Access Resources
And Assistance from the District Attorney’s Office

Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced on Wednesday,
April 25, 2018, that his office has launched an online Law Enforcement Portal, which will allow police officers to directly access resources and assistance from the District Attorney’s Office, as well as other information important to law enforcement. The Law Enforcement Portal is part of the Orange County website, and is accessible only to members of law enforcement agencies that have been granted access to the Portal’s secure web page.

The Law Enforcement Portal includes several functions:

• An online form that police officers may use to request assistance from the District Attorney’s Office in securing evidence to support ongoing investigations;
• Access to the District Attorney’s online Community Camera Partnership database, giving police officers information that citizens have voluntarily made available about surveillance cameras on their property, cameras that police might access to help in solving crimes;
• Updates on important developments in the law that affects criminal investigations and prosecutions;
• Literature on the latest criminal investigative techniques;
• A series of forms, still in development, that police officers may use to request information from the new Mid-Hudson Crime Analysis Center; and
• An online form that police officers may use to notify the District Attorney’s Office of arrests of fugitives that are wanted by authorities in other states.

​District Attorney Hoovler commended his staff investigators for their work in developing and launching the Law Enforcement Portal.

“In the 21st Century, efficient information sharing is critical,” said District Attorney Hoovler, “and savvy criminals are continuously enhancing their ability to share information. If law enforcement does not keep up, we will fall behind in our efforts to solve and prevent crime. The District Attorney’s Law Enforcement Portal is the latest step in my Office’s efforts to cooperate with our law enforcement agencies in making appropriate information more accessible between all of us in law enforcement. I urge all of our law enforcement officers to request access to the Portal.”
